US President, Joe Biden steps aside from contesting in the 2024 US election.

He made the announcement today, July 21, just hours after he tweeted that he will win Donald Trump to retain the position of the US president.

The Democratic National Committee will now choose an alternative nominee to run against former President Donald Trump. The clear frontrunner to replace Biden as the Democratic nominee is Vice President Kamala Harris, with other potential candidates including Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania and Gavin Newsom of California.
